Lit Little Laboratories is owned and run by Evan, who does the work himself. There is no call center, no queue, and no script. When you get in touch, Evan is the one who reads it, the one who shows up, and the one you can hold accountable for the outcome.
He has spent years building, running and fixing the same kinds of systems small businesses depend on: networks, Windows PCs, servers, backups and the monitoring that tells you when something is about to fail. That is why we will not sell you a backup we have not restored in front of you, and why every job ends with a written summary you can hand to anyone.
We keep the client list small on purpose. You are not spread across forty other accounts on the day you need someone, and you deal with the same person every time.

On site work covers roughly a twenty mile radius around St. Charles, with no trip charge inside that. Locations further out are still possible; a small travel fee is simply added to the quote. Remote work, done over a screen share, has no geographic limit at all.

How much is this going to cost me?
Most items on the services page list a real number or a real range. Hourly work is $75 remote and $95 on site. Anything that cannot be priced from a description gets a free written estimate before any payment, and that number does not change afterward unless you ask for more work.
When are you available?
Appointments are scheduled in advance, with evening and weekend slots as standard so nobody at your business has to stop working while we fix something. Remote sessions can usually be scheduled within a few days. We are not an emergency line; if you need someone on site within the hour, we will tell you that up front rather than leave you waiting.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. One-off jobs are one-off jobs. The monthly services, like looking after backups, are month to month and you can stop whenever you like.
What if you cannot fix it?
You do not pay for a repair that does not work. If a machine needs parts or is not worth repairing, we will tell you plainly instead of billing more hours, and the diagnostic time is not charged.
Will you need my passwords, and is my stuff safe?
Sometimes, and when we do need access, we will tell you exactly which credentials and why. Anything shared with us is changed or returned at the end of the job, along with a written record of what exists and where. We do not keep copies of your data, and we do not access files outside the scope of the job.
Do you work on Macs?
For everyday support, yes. For Mac hardware repair we will point you to an Apple-authorized shop.
Do you come to me, or do I bring it to you?
We come to you, or we handle it remotely over a screen share, whichever suits the job. There is no physical location to drop equipment off at.
